May 8 Meeting--Soil & Water Needs of Roses
Gene Noto, Rochester Rosarian, to Address Society
May 8 is the date we’ll gather at 7:30 p.m. to learn about the two basic ingredients of good rose growing—good
soil and good water. Giving us his Master Rosarian’s perspective on soils and water will be Gene Noto of the Rochester
Rose Society. Dr. Noto, a past District Director of the New York State District Rose Society, frequently judges our SRS
Rose Shows at the mall or the State Fair wearing one of his many hats as a certified ARS Rose Judge. His very strong rose-growing
credentials are supported further by his experience in the Rochester area Master Gardener Program.
As usual, Program Chair Carl Blanchard will include the Q & A Forum after Dr. Noto's address, so bring in your pressing rose
questions.
Before the Meeting
Come an hour early on May 8 and join our annual spring plant sale. This is a major fundraising event for the society, so
please bring in your perennial and annual plants to share with others and buy some new ones to fill the empty spaces in your
own garden.
After the Meeting
Don’t forget to stay after the program for Sandy Pizzari’s magical displays of delicious goodies contributed
by our members. Stop for a quick bite after all these activities and talk roses with your friends.
We hope to see you all starting at 6:30 or as soon as you can get there on Thursday evening, May 8th.
